Oberhaching (dpa / lby) - In southern Upper Bavaria, a man is said to have seriously injured his partner and took her own life.
As the police reported on Wednesday, the 49-year-old man had a dispute with his partner in the shared house in Oberhaching (Munich district) on Monday morning.
The man hit the 45-year-old with a six-kilogram dumbbell.
After the fact, the man informed two neighbors and then drove away in his car.
Less than an hour after the crime, he drove into a tree on a federal road in the Waakirchen municipality in the Miesbach district, about 40 kilometers away.
He was injured so badly that he died at the scene of the accident.
Investigators assume that the man intentionally caused the accident.
According to the criminal investigation department, the couple had had relationship problems for a long time.
The unmarried couple's two underage children were also in the house during the violence.
The neighbors found the children physically intact in the apartment.
The seriously injured woman is being treated in the intensive care unit of a Munich hospital.
