His only fault is to have crossed the path of the defendant at the worst moment.
On Tuesday, an 18-year-old man was sentenced to ten months suspended prison sentence before the Bourg-en-Bresse Criminal Court (Ain) for harassing a 14-year-old teenager with a tire iron, reports
Le Progress.
On March 31, the defendant, mad with jealousy, left his home with the tool to go in search of a rival, supposed to have dredged his girlfriend.
But he hadn't been able to get his hands on it.
On the way, he had passed the teenager and had started to chase him before giving him violent blows with the tire iron.
The victim, hit in the forehead, back and side, was seriously injured.
The young adult, whose drug and alcohol addiction led him to intensive care last September after an overdose, was the subject of a psychiatric examination, which however did not reveal any mental illness.
At the bar of the court, the defendant admitted the facts by explaining that he was no longer himself and that he no longer controlled himself.
"I don't even know why I hit him," he said, according to the regional daily.
He will have to follow care to avoid imprisonment.
