Ha mburg (dpa / lno) - The Hamburg Towers have expanded their winning streak in the basketball Bundesliga.

On Wednesday evening, the team of coach Pedro Calles won 88:82 (49:41) at his former club Rasta Vechta and thus triumphed for the seventh time in a row.

While the guests were able to consolidate their sixth place in the table, they also increased the relegation worries of the bottom light.

The best thrower on the part of the Hanseatic League was again Maik Kotsar, who scored 22 points.

Edgar Sosa scored 23 points for Vechta.

The favored Hamburgers had a bit of trouble finding their way into the game.

With an 11-0 series at the end of the first quarter, the guest won a 26:16 lead.

Nevertheless, the Hanseatic team continued to struggle on the defensive and, despite 49 points at the break, also had a poor yield in the threesome (4/15) and free throws (9/14).

After changing sides, the Calles team was more focused and was able to break away by up to 17 points.

The hosts admitted they were not defeated, but could no longer seriously distress the Towers.

The next opponent of the playoff candidate is champion Alba Berlin on Saturday.
