Informed Sudanese military sources said that the Sudanese army responded yesterday to the attempt of Ethiopian militias to penetrate into Sudanese territory.

The sources said that "the Sudanese armed forces and reserve forces of the second infantry division clashed with the Ethiopian militia and other forces that penetrated into Sudanese territory 12 kilometers deep, accompanied by a group of Ethiopian farmers to plow the land and prepare it for the agricultural season."

She explained that "the Sudanese forces were able to expel the militias and farmers from the Ethiopian settlement of Marsha, which is located within the Sudanese borders."

The borders of Sudan and Ethiopia have been witnessing military tension since last November, when the Sudanese army redeployed its forces in the lands of Al-Fashaqa and reclaimed large areas of agricultural land that Ethiopian groups have been cultivating under the protection of the militias for more than 25 years.
