China News Service, April 7th (Chen Jing, Yang Dawei, Jin Xiaolu) Lung cancer is the most common tumor in China and the leading cause of death from cancer.

The reporter learned on the 7th that the China Lung Cancer Prevention and Treatment Alliance launched the "Intelligent Benefit One Million Early Lung Cancer Project" (the "Million Project"), which will set up the "China Lung Cancer Prevention Alliance AI diagnosis and treatment of lung nodules in 100 hospitals across China within 3 years." "Sub-centers" play the role of artificial intelligence to promote lung cancer screening and early diagnosis and treatment.

According to the plan, within this year, the China Lung Cancer Prevention and Treatment Alliance will complete 30 of the “China Lung Cancer Prevention and Treatment Alliance AI Diagnosis and Treatment Sub-centers for Lung Nodules”.

It is understood that in order to change the high incidence of lung cancer, high mortality and low 5-year survival rate in China, in 2012, with the support of Zhong Nanshan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the director of the Shanghai Institute of Respiratory Diseases and the Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University The team of Professor Bai Chunxue from the Department of Respiratory Medicine led the establishment of the China Lung Cancer Prevention and Treatment Alliance.

It is understood that standardized management of lung nodules and early diagnosis of lung cancer have a significant effect on improving the diagnosis and treatment of early lung cancer.

However, due to the lack of standardized training, the level of diagnosis and treatment varies greatly among medical institutions, which brings great difficulties to the accurate diagnosis of lung nodules.

The "Millions Project" will strive to improve this status quo.

On the same day, the "China Lung Cancer Prevention Alliance-Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University AI-assisted lung nodule diagnosis and treatment demonstration base" was unveiled, which will play a demonstrative role of "top-level design, academic leadership, technological innovation and intelligent benefit to the public".

In the future, the demonstration base will integrate the strengths of the Respiratory Department and Thoracic Surgery Department of Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University to jointly cultivate discipline leaders in related fields and form a talent echelon. Radiation includes Xiamen Hospital, Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Putuo Central Hospital, Renji Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Tongji Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University, etc., are among the first batch of 8 “China Lung Cancer Prevention Alliance Lung Nodule AI Diagnosis and Treatment Sub-centers”, which are dedicated to improving the early stage lung cancer in lung nodules. The level of diagnosis, treatment and management can better play the role of AI in assisting the diagnosis and treatment of early lung cancer, so that the sensitivity of early lung cancer diagnosis in lung nodules (to avoid delay in diagnosis) reaches more than 99%, and the specificity (to avoid overtreatment) reaches more than 95%.
