Coronavirus Oriol Mitjà, the doctor that Quim Torra uses against Spain
The Catalan infectious disease specialist
Oriol Mitjà
has charged against the
Government
for its management of the coronavirus.
In the book
An Open Heart Year
, which he presented this morning at Rac1, he criticizes the internal struggles that prevented his proposals from being useful in the fight against Covid.
The Catalan doctor is especially forceful with the role of Pere Aragonès, who he says he blocked all his initiatives, but also with Quim Torra, whom he reproaches for not having been able to take the reins of the
Executive
.
Mitjà
has regretted that the Republican interpreted that his councils "usurped the powers of a council of his party [
Health
, in the hands of
Alba Vergés
]".
He states in his book that
Aragonès
had a "passive-aggressive behavior" because he was friendly on his face, but on his back he despised his contributions.
A little less than a year ago,
Torra
wanted to appoint him commissioner for deconfinement with the rank of
counselor
, but the
epidemiologist
declined the offer when he saw "the reluctance" of the
vice president
.
The former
president
, however, also reproaches him for a lack of "courage."
Mitjà
assures that the previous head of the
Government
did not dare to exercise the coordination of all the ministries of his Cabinet.
In this sense, the
infectologist
believes that the struggle between the partners of
the Catalan Executive
has been decisive for the management of the
pandemic
.
"Some were evil and others, fearful," he says in reference to Esquerra Republicana and Junts per Catalunya respectively.
"There have been moments of inefficiency and political fights. From the political point of view, I have encountered many obstacles. A bureaucracy that was not prepared," explained
Mitjà
in the program
El món a Rac1
.
