The doses of AstraZeneca vaccines were shunned last weekend in the Nord and Pas-de-Calais because of fears of side effects, sometimes causing the closure of vaccination centers for lack of patients.

But everything was finally back to normal on Wednesday.

The medical staff deplore poor communication and want to do education and information work.

REPORTAGE

Last weekend, many doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 had not found a taker in the Nord and Pas-de-Calais, due to mistrust of the possible side effects of this vaccine.

But Wednesday, in a vaccination center in Calais, the candidates for the injection were present, without particular concern.

No less than 170 vaccines were then carried out.

"Very rare" side effects

The European Medicines Agency on Wednesday recognized "very rare" side effects of thrombosis.

"For me, the AstraZeneca vaccine is not a problem, despite the risks. The risks, what is it? One in how many? Anyway, studies have shown that it is reliable," says Jean- Marc, 60, at the microphone of Europe 1. He admits, however, that he would have preferred a Pfizer vaccine.

"It's up to us to convince them"

The number of skeptics facing the Anglo-Swedish vaccine persists despite everything.

"They are more or less reluctant, but it is up to us to convince them too. We are liberal nurses, we have a job of education and information," says Agnes, who continues the bites.

This somewhat disastrous communication certainly explains the reason which pushed this center to close last weekend for lack of candidates.

"There was a problem on Saturday. There was an announcement in the media and 50 people then declined or rejected the appointments," admits Armand Devigne, nurse.

"But today, people realized that it was only an incident," he said immediately.

The incident was finally quickly forgotten by the population: Wednesday, all the doses of AstraZeneca could be injected.
