Paris (dpa) - After cyber attacks on an online learning platform, the French judiciary has initiated investigations.

On Tuesday, the attacks had repeatedly disrupted the platform of the state distance learning center CNED.

France's schools were closed nationwide for the first time in the current school year due to the stricter corona rules.

According to the Ministry of Education, around 500,000 teachers and students used the attacked system.

CNED counted dozens of attacks, not all of which were blocked.

Preliminary investigations into improper access and obstruction of the functioning of a computer system were underway, the Paris public prosecutor said.

Because of the tense Corona situation, French President Emmanuel Macron announced last week that schools in the country would be closing for three weeks.

First there is one week of distance learning, followed by two weeks of spring break for everyone.

The face-to-face teaching should then start gradually.
