Hanover (dpa) - Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Stephan Weil reacted by rejecting the "bridge lockdown" proposed by CDU boss Armin Laschet in the Corona crisis.

The SPD politician said on Tuesday that he had “serious doubts” about such a measure.

The proposal leaves many questions unanswered.

«Does Prime Minister Laschet want to close all daycare centers including emergency care?

Does he want to shut down the economy completely?

How long and with what specific goal should the measures last?

All this is unclear, "said Weil in the direction of his official colleague from North Rhine-Westphalia and criticized:" Such proposals contribute to people's uncertainty, but do not help us to contain the infection process.

Weil also rejected an early Prime Minister's conference.

He sees no reason for that.

"Before Easter, activism caused a lot of people to lose confidence, after Easter we are not allowed to repeat this mistake."

So far, the next federal-state round is planned for April 12th.

Laschet had proposed a quick and hard lockdown on Monday to contain the third corona wave.

This should bridge the time until many people are vaccinated.

Lower Saxony, on the other hand, wants to test in 14 model municipalities shortly whether it is possible to open shops, cafés and cultural institutions linked to corona tests.
