Flonheim (dpa / lrs) - Unknown people blew up an ATM at a bank branch in Flonheim in the Alzey-Worms district.

The perpetrators fled after the explosion, said a police spokesman on Tuesday morning.

A manhunt was initially unsuccessful.

Nobody got hurt.

The blast pushed out a pane in the anteroom of the bank.

However, there was no major damage to the building.

Whether the perpetrators have stolen money is now being determined, it said.

Also on Tuesday night, several strangers blew up an ATM in Mörfelden-Walldorf, Hesse, about 60 kilometers away.

It was still unclear whether there was a connection between the acts.
