A police chief testifying against one of his agents is almost unheard of in the United States.

Questioned by the prosecution, in uniform in court, Medaria Arradondo pulverizes one of the main arguments of the defense of Derek Chauvin, almost a week after

the start

of the latter's

trial

.

"

Yes absolutely,"

answers the number 1 of the Minneapolis police,

Derek violated his training but also the police regulations by immobilizing George Floyd with his knee resting on the back of his neck for more than 9 minutes.

"Then he continues:"

The fact of continuing to impose such a level of force on someone who is already face down and handcuffed behind the back is in no way in accordance with our policy, with our training and certainly not. neither to our ethics nor to our values.

 "

Medaria Arradondo is the first African American to lead the Minneapolis Police Department.

This summer, it was he who had dismissed Derek Chauvin, he also who had qualified as "

murder

" the death of George Floyd.

By testifying in court, Chief Arradondo ensures that this trial remains that of Chauvin only, and not that of the police that he has promised to reform.
