On April 6, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian presided over a regular press conference.

A reporter asked what kind of information the Chinese side conveyed on Xinjiang-related and Hong Kong-related issues during the call between the Chinese and Japanese foreign ministers.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that it is normal for the foreign ministers of China and Japan to maintain communication on bilateral relations and international and regional issues. Based on the hard-won efforts to improve the overall development of Sino-Japanese relations, the two sides talked on the phone.

Regarding what kind of information China has conveyed on Hong Kong-related and Xinjiang-related issues raised by the reporter, Zhao Lijian said that during the call, China emphasized that Hong Kong-related and Xinjiang-related issues are China’s internal affairs and no foreign interference is allowed.

Japan should face up to objective facts and abide by the basic norms of international relations.

Especially as a close neighbor of China, Japan should maintain a minimum of respect for China's internal affairs and not stretch its hands too long.
