Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Two corona rapid tests per week for all students are intended to make teaching at Saxony-Anhalt's schools safer.
From next Monday (April 12th) everyone should be tested, the Ministry of Education announced on Tuesday in Magdeburg.
Sufficient lay self-tests should then be available in all schools.
The children and adolescents could also prove a negative test result obtained elsewhere or present a medical certificate that there was no corona infection.
The mandatory testing applies to all types of schools, including elementary schools.
A week later, the urgent appeal becomes a binding regulation: In the new 12th Corona state ordinance, which is to come into force on April 19, the regular, comprehensible rapid tests would be specified as a prerequisite for entering the school premises, the ministry said .
"The regular, comprehensive and binding use of lay self-tests, in addition to compliance with the AHA measures, is an essential and important contribution to limiting the occurrence of infections," explained Minister of Education Marco Tullner (CDU) and Minister of Health Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD).
"The self-tests give the people present in the school a bit of security during the classroom lessons."

Saxony-Anhalt is also one of the few federal states that offers all teachers a vaccination offer.
The changed guidelines for the use of the vaccine from Astrazeneca unfortunately led to a delay in the vaccination campaign in several districts, explained Grimm-Benne.
"However, replacement appointments will be made available via the vaccination centers as soon as possible."
