Recklinghausen (dpa / lnw) - After being stabbed by a knife, a 26-year-old injured suspect from Recklinghausen was operated on and arrested in the hospital.

As the public prosecutor's office in Bochum and the Recklinghausen police jointly announced on Tuesday, the 26-year-old had initially argued on the phone with a 30-year-old from Marl on Easter Sunday night.

Then he went to his apartment in Recklinghausen, stabbed him "at random with a knife-like object" and seriously injured him.

After that, the 26-year-old fled, and searches were initially unsuccessful.

On Sunday afternoon it became known that the suspect German had allegedly also been injured in the confrontation and was in a hospital in Herne, it said.

There he was provisionally arrested and guarded by the police.

Since he also had to undergo an emergency operation, he was transferred to a Bochum hospital, where an arrest warrant was issued against him for attempted manslaughter.

The investigation by the homicide squad into the background of the crime continues, it said.
