After several exhibitions in Europe, Jean Servais Somian decided to meet his audience in his native country and opened his showroom in 2018 in Grand Bassam, where he is from.

"Ivorians are very interested in what we do. It's a fight, an education, so we continue to surprise, to propose. Things are changing for the better."

He knows that the next generation of artists could have more opportunities, as long as they go beyond the fad.

"Today we are too much in the picture. There are spotlights right now on African artists, of course that's a good thing. But the most important is understanding, gray matter. . Otherwise, all of this will only be fleeting, and that's what I don't want. It's up to Africa to train its young people, not the others. "
