Schwerin (dpa / mv) - In the fraud trial against a farmer from the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, the pleadings are to be held today (9 a.m.) at the Schwerin district court and the judgment may also be announced.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the 60-year-old defendant of having sold pigs and cattle as organic goods for years, although this was not true.

According to calculations by the authorities, the farmer earned around one million euros more between 2010 and 2015 than would have been possible with conventionally reared cattle.

According to the indictment, he also forged funding applications and delivery notes.

In this way, the farmer is said to have evaded around 200,000 euros in taxes and around 400,000 euros in subsidies.
