Hanover (dpa / lni) - The police in Lower Saxony have only registered isolated violations of the Corona regulation during Easter.

The Ministry of the Interior announced on Tuesday that the people had apparently mostly adhered to the appeal to keep contacts as low as possible over the Easter days.

There were around 2,600 administrative offense proceedings, including 816 violations of the night curfew.

Nationwide, the officials counted more than 4,230 dangerous approaches and issued over 1,190 evictions - 259 of them because of the night curfew.

Only in a few cases did the officials encounter incomprehension.

Occasionally there was resistance when the police had to intervene at private celebrations.

The usual traffic jams on the motorways did not occur because of the low traffic, only on the North Sea coast was a "partly increased number of tourists" registered.

More than 3000 police officers were on duty in Lower Saxony on the Easter holidays.

Interior Minister Boris Pistorius thanked the people “for their level-headedness in this exceptional situation and for the fact that the currently applicable rules were largely respected”.

The pandemic has been determining life for over a year, combined with sometimes sensitive restrictions.

"That is why it is positive that the police only had to intervene in comparatively few cases over the Easter weekend," emphasized the SPD politician.
