Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The corona vaccinations in the Rhineland-Palatinate medical practices will only start very slowly from the point of view of the family doctors' association.

Vaccination start was on Wednesday because the delivery of the vaccines was only promised for Tuesday, said the state chairman of the general practitioner association, Barbara Römer.

"The association assumes nationwide participation of general practitioners' practices in Rhineland-Palatinate this week."

This week, however, there will still be a very small number of vaccine doses in the practices.

In addition, the deliveries were on average 10 to 20 percent below the order quantity from last week.

However, neither the association nor the Ministry of Health in Mainz, the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians or the Association of Pharmacists were able to give exact figures about vaccinating GPs and doses.

Even on the holidays there were "a lot of last minute detailed inquiries about the procedure" from many practices, said Römer.

"The amount of vaccine will hopefully increase rapidly from next week."

Because: "The pace of vaccination stands or falls with the delivery doses that are ultimately guaranteed."

Ministry spokesman Markus Kuhlen explained the process as follows: "The vaccine goes from the federal government to wholesalers and then via the pharmacies to the practices, the state is not directly involved in this process."

Like the vaccination centers, the medical practices should also report data with which the federal Robert Koch Institute (RKI) can follow the vaccination process.

According to information from the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, a “restricted data set” must be transmitted every day, the number of first and second vaccinations, broken down by vaccine, as well as the number of vaccinated over 60-year-olds.

Information on the vaccination indication as well as the batch number would later be recorded with the quarterly billing and transmitted to the RKI by the regional medical associations, said Kuhlen.

"Doctors document the vaccinations as usual in the patient file."

The vaccinated would get a sticker or note in the vaccination certificate.

KV Rhineland-Palatinate will only receive the numbers and data in July, said KV spokesman Rainer Saurwein.

The professional representation of the contract physicians is calling for a faster shift of vaccinations from the vaccination centers to the doctor's offices as well as a reduction in bureaucracy and higher remuneration.

Around 20 euros are planned, but the effort is much higher than with a flu vaccination.
