  • In this giant center, some 1,300 people must be vaccinated per day.

  • Demand is high, although there are no more appointments available before April 30.

There is no crowd this Tuesday morning because "there are still some adjustments to be made".

But by Thursday, 1,300 people will be vaccinated daily here at the Beaujoire exhibition center.

Since 11 a.m., Nantes has had its giant vaccination center, the largest in Pays-de-la-Loire.

In the vast hall of 5,500 m2 offering a soothing view of the Erdre, various waiting areas have been set up, around the 16 consecutive vaccination boxes, accessible 7 days a week, from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm.

Opened at the end of last week, the 50,000 slots offered on the Doctolib platform have almost all found takers.

This Tuesday, there were no more appointments available before April 30.

“The people of Nantes are there, welcomes Johanna Rolland, the mayor (PS) of Nantes.

Speeding up vaccination is a major topic.

"The first to pass through the door on Tuesday initially had an appointment in the old center located in Ranzay, which administered 450 doses per day, or three times less than the one who replaces him" You have to go through there to find a normal life, observes Denise, on her husband's arm.

Everything is well organized here, it is rather reassuring.

More than 650,000 people vaccinated in the region

To keep this big machine running, more than 350 city agents volunteered.

Welcome in the car park, at the entrance, check the appointment, fill out the questionnaire… So many steps to take before arriving in front of one of the 80 doctors and 200 nurses who will turn to administer the tens of thousands of doses Pfizer.

Civil Protection teams are also mobilized, in particular during the quarter of an hour of observation, before finally being able to collect their vaccination certificate.

New booking slots for the month of May should open between April 15 and 20, while 100,000 doses were received for Pays-de-la-Loire in April, against 50,000 in March.

According to the Regional Health Agency, more than 650,000 people are now vaccinated in the region.

This is above the set target, which was 500,000 at the end of March.

By the summer, the Beaujoire vaccinodrome hopes to reach 2,000 daily injections.

The boxes are already installed, it remains to be seen if the supplies will follow.
