Solar power is on the rise in Sweden, and in Strängnäs they are the best at it.

This is stated by the industry organization Swedish Solar Energy, which every year compiles how the proportion of installed solar cell power is in the country's municipality.

This year, Strängnäs topped that list, where the proportion of solar power per inhabitant is 500 watts.

The average in the country is 105 watts per person.

Significant increase

Last year, the number of plants that produce solar energy also increased by 50 percent throughout the country - from 44,000 to 66,000. All municipalities throughout Sweden also now have at least one grid-connected photovoltaic plant.

The total amount of installed power has also increased significantly.

At the end of 2020, 1.09 GW was measured.

The year before, the same figure was 0.698 GW.

This means that the solar cells now produce as much electricity in one year as a municipality the size of Lund uses annually.

This is what it looked like at the inauguration of Sweden's largest solar park outside Strängnäs.
