Munich (dpa) - Despite all the uncertainties, reservations for the Oktoberfest are already piling up at the Oktoberfest hosts.

"The response is very positive," says the spokesman for the Oktoberfest restaurateurs, Peter Inselkammer.

The city of Munich does not want to decide until May whether the world's largest festival (planned from September 18 to October 3) will take place.

There is, however, a noticeable reluctance to book hotels.

We hear from hotel chains and travel portals that there are fewer reservations, bookings and searches for overnight accommodation during the Oktoberfest.

"People want to come," says Inselkammer.

95 percent of the regular guests would have ordered their Oktoberfest tables as they did in 2019. "Only a very few have canceled."

He himself values the chance for the “fifty-fifty” Oktoberfest.

The city wants to decide in May.

In the case of accommodation, on the other hand, reluctance can be felt.

The demand for rooms during the Oktoberfest has been “sparse” so far, according to the Motel One chain.

The travel agent Expedia reports a more restrained interest than in the years before Corona.

"However, historically, the number of bookings for the Oktoberfest only increases towards the end of May or the beginning of June."

And on the Booking.com portal, customers from Germany recently searched more frequently for Norderney, Krün or Oberstdorf than for Munich.
