Lohmar (dpa / lnw) - A resident was killed in a fire in a hospice in Lohmar in the Rhein-Sieg district.

On Sunday evening, a fire broke out in a room in the nursing home for an unexplained cause, as the fire brigade announced on Monday.

An installed oxygen device accelerated the spread of the flames.

When the emergency services arrived, nurses had already extinguished the fire.

However, the resident probably died due to a smoke gas injury.

Two nurses were injured in a hospital.

The exact cause of the fire is still being determined.

The fire brigade initially did not comment on the age of the dead resident.
