For many Norwegians living in Sweden, or simply on vacation, it is a dilemma: whether to abide by the law, which requires anyone entering Norway, Norwegian or not, to present a negative test and pass 10 days in quarantine?
Or should we try to slip through the cracks, along the 1,620 kilometers of borders separating the two countries?
This weekend, a Norwegian 50-year-old chose the second option and put on his skis in Sweden to cover the 40 kilometers that separated him from the nearest Norwegian road, where his son was waiting for him.
He crossed the border well, but eventually got lost in a snowstorm before being picked up by a reindeer herder and ending up in the hands of the police.
Soaked and cold, the fugitive was finally confined to a quarantine hotel and risked having to pay, in addition, the costs of his rescue.
