China News Service, April 5, according to Reuters, Indonesia’s National Disaster Relief Agency stated on April 5 that tropical cyclones have caused mountain torrents and landslides in many places in southeastern Indonesia, causing at least 55 deaths and 40 missing.

President Joko Widodo expressed condolences to the victims and urged residents to follow the instructions of officials in extreme weather.

On April 4, local time, on the island of Flores in eastern Indonesia, the village after being hit by flash floods was in a mess, with building debris and rubbish everywhere.

  According to reports, the Indonesian National Disaster Relief Agency stated that at least 400 people have been evacuated in East Nusa Tenggara.

The tropical cyclone caused many bridges to collapse, many trees fell, and several roads were interrupted. At least one vessel capsized, and the huge waves caused by the tropical cyclone complicated search and rescue operations.

  Indonesian President Joko Widodo expressed condolences to the victims and urged residents to follow the instructions of officials in extreme weather.

In a video, Joko said: "I have ordered the rapid and good relief work, including the provision of health service assistance, the provision of logistics services and the basic needs of the displaced, as well as the restoration of infrastructure."

  Raditya Jadi, a spokesperson for the Indonesian National Disaster Relief Agency, said that basic items including food and blankets are being delivered to the disaster area.

  Jadi said that the disaster area is expected to face extreme weather such as torrential rains and strong winds in the coming week. The National Disaster Relief Agency of Indonesia reminds local governments and residents to be vigilant.
