A 21-year-old young man is still in police custody in Toulouse.

In the night from Sunday to Monday, he caused several incidents at the wheel of a rental van in the pink city and its agglomeration, reports

La Dépêche.

A little after midnight, he notably voluntarily darkened into a restaurant before setting fire to his vehicle and consequently to the establishment, avenue Henri-Desbals.

He then tried to flee before being arrested by the police.

Firefighters had to urgently evacuate an elderly couple from a house behind the restaurant and then fight the flames for several hours.

An hour earlier, this same individual had a first collision with a man and a woman with his van in a parking lot in Balma.

The latter were slightly injured.

It was at this time that the vehicle was also reported to the police and chased.

The driver also allegedly tried to run over another pedestrian before finishing his run in the restaurant.

For the moment, we do not know the motive for these actions while the opinion of a psychiatrist will be sought.
