Foreign Minister Motegi talked with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi over the phone and was seriously concerned about supremacy actions such as the enforcement of the "Marine Police Law" that allowed the Coast Guard to use weapons and human rights issues over the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. And urged concrete actions.

The telephone talk was offered by the Chinese side and was held for about an hour and a half from about 6 pm on the 5th.



Among them, Foreign Minister Motegi and Foreign Minister Wang Yi confirmed the importance of contributing to the region and the international community as both Japan and China as responsible powers, and then the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and China next year. He expressed his hope that exchanges would proceed in a wide range of fields.



On the other hand, Minister Motegi said that China is strengthening its marine expansion in the East China Sea and South China Sea, such as enforcing the "Marine Police Law" that allows the Coast Guard to use weapons, the situation in Hong Kong, and human rights issues surrounding the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region. He expressed his serious concern about the situation and urged him to take concrete action.



At the meeting, we deepened dialogue on measures against the new coronavirus and climate change issues, confirmed cooperation for the denuclearization of North Korea, and agreed on the need for full implementation of the UN Security Council resolution.



In addition, after exchanging opinions on the situation in Myanmar, Minister Motegi announced a policy of urging the military to immediately stop violence, release the parties concerned, and restore the democratic political system as soon as possible, in order to resolve the situation. We have confirmed that we will cooperate in the international community.
