  • Crisis: Spain must multiply the vaccination rate by seven to save the summer campaign

  • Coronavirus: Why are we so late with vaccines?

Carolina Darias, the Minister of Health, has assured this Monday, after Spain received a shipment of 1,200,000 doses of the vaccine from Pfizer, that "

this will be the frequency of arrival every Monday during the month of April

."

Thus, according to the minister, Spain will receive

"more than one million two hundred thousand doses" each week

.

In other words, at the end of April our country would have received around five million doses.

"It means that the goal of reaching over 70% vaccinated this summer is within our grasp."

Darias has spoken from Valencia, where he has attended the reception of the vaccines.

Of the 1,200,000 doses, 125,000 are destined for Valencia.

"As far as this community is concerned, it will receive 125,000 doses every Monday during the month of April"

AstraZeneca and Pfizer

Pfizer's vaccines are in addition to the 1,056,500 from AstraZeneca that the country received on Holy Thursday,

and which were distributed on Good Friday among the autonomous communities.

The communities have administered a total of 8,548,598 doses of the Covid-19 vaccines from Pfizer / BioNtech, Moderna and AstraZaneca until this Saturday,

206,438 of them between Thursday and Good Friday

.

This represents 88.2% of the doses delivered in Spain, totaling 9,689,995 units.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, collected by Europa Press, until this Friday a total of

2,841,148 people have received the complete schedule of these vaccines

, that is, they are immunized against the coronavirus.

44,133 people have received this complete guideline in the previous 48 hours.

The data indicate that in the first quarter of the year

, 6,470,295 doses of Pfizer were delivered to the autonomous communities, with 6,323,911 administered

;

1,044,000 corresponding to Moderna, with 501,896 already inoculated;

and 2,175,700 from AstraZeneca, with which 1,722,791 people have been vaccinated.

Slowdown at Easter

These data mean a slowdown in the vaccination process during these two days, which have been holidays due to Holy Week, compared to previous days.

For example, between Wednesday and Thursday,

more than 300,000 doses of the vaccine against Covid-19 were injected

, while in the last 48 hours it has barely exceeded 200,000 injected doses.

Andalusia, in the first place, followed by Catalonia and Madrid, are the autonomous communities that

have administered the most doses in total, all exceeding one million doses administered.

"There is a significant amount of vaccines,"

stressed the Minister of Health, who stressed that each week the number of available doses will increase, thus recognizing

the "effort" that all the autonomies are making

"that have not stopped vaccinating, even , this holy Week".

As he stated, the goal is for

"the vaccine to beat the virus in time" and stressed that "each day that passes is a milestone compared to the previous one in the administration of vaccines

.

"

In this way, he assured that the goal of having 33 million Spaniards vaccinated throughout the summer is "within reach."
