Ingolstadt / Lindau (dpa / lby) - After the pandemic-related postponement of the 2020 State Garden Show, there will be a premiere in Bavaria this year.

In the summer, two Bavarian garden shows attract flower lovers at the same time, provided there are no further cancellations due to the corona crisis.

The state horticultural show in Ingolstadt, which was postponed from last year, will take place from April 21st to October 3rd according to current planning.

The small garden show in Lindau, which is scheduled for this year, will also be a little shorter (May 20th to September 26th).

There should also be competition on the Baden-Württemberg side of Lake Constance - in Überlingen.

It should actually start on April 9, but was postponed due to the high number of corona infections in the Lake Constance district.

This year's Bavarian events should be a success after the last major state horticultural show in Bavaria could not meet expectations.

The show in Würzburg in 2018 attracted around 700,000 visitors - around 200,000 fewer than hoped for.

A minus remained in the coffers.

In the meantime, the garden shows are viewed critically in some municipalities.

The managing director of the Bavarian State Horticultural Show, Martin Richter-Liebald, therefore wants to take the residents with him earlier in future projects.

"We have to inform more, we have to do a lot more citizen participation," he says.
