Pope Francis urged the international community this Easter Sunday to
"a common commitment to overcome the delays" in the distribution of coronavirus vaccines
and "to promote their distribution, especially in the poorest countries."
Francis made the request in the Easter message he
delivered from inside an empty St. Peter's Basilica.
After celebrating Mass on Easter Sunday and inside the basilica, and not from the balcony of the façade of St. Peter as tradition marks because all of Italy is confined on those days,
the pope prayed that "the Lord give comfort and support the fatigue of doctors
and nurses "and highlighted that" all people, especially the most fragile, require assistance and have the right to access the necessary treatments. "
