During Easter Eve, 15,700 cranes were counted by Hornborgasjön.

It is still a long way from previous records of over 23,000, but tourists do not seem to care.

Many have this weekend sought out the lookout points to see the birds dance.

Even though only the cranes are allowed to dance this year.

But why Lake Hornborgasjön?

- If you talk about the cranes, it's about it being a reasonable distance from Rügen on its way to its nesting sites.

Then this fits perfectly.

Good food is served here, now in the form of barley, says Klara Börjesson Ahlqvist who is head of tourism in Falköping municipality.

Planning to come back

The Häggdahl family from Strömstad plans to return several years with the tent to Hornborgasjön.

- We usually follow the crane count so that we fit in a day with good weather and quite a lot of cranes, says Jonas Häggdahl and pats his three-year-old daughter Iris who also slept well in the tent.

In the clip above, the family tells more about the annual tradition.
