Egypt's Suez Canal administration has announced that more than 420 vessels, all of which had to wait due to the stranded container ship on the 23rd of last month, all passed through the canal on the 3rd.

On the Suez Canal in Egypt, a large container ship owned by Shoei Kisen in Ehime Prefecture and operated by a Taiwanese company ran ashore on the 23rd of last month, blocking the canal and succeeding in taking off the container ship on the 29th, six days later. However, the passage of the canal was resumed.

The Suez Canal Authority, which manages the canal, announced that all 422 vessels that had to wait had passed through the canal on the 3rd.

However, during this time, some vessels have newly arrived at the canal, and according to the agency that handles the passage procedure, about 150 vessels are waiting for passage as of the morning of the 3rd, so it will be a while before it returns to normal. It may take some time.

On the other hand, the Suez Canal Authority has kept the container ship in the lake in the middle of the canal and has been investigating the cause of the accident since 31st last month. It mentions the possibility of an accident involving it.

In addition, the Secretary of State of the Suez Canal Authority, Labia, pointed out that the amount of damage including the cost of reefing work could exceed 1 billion dollars, or 110 billion yen in Japanese yen. We are also considering claiming compensation.
