Berlin (dpa) - The new Corona rules have given retailers in Berlin a day of sales with largely empty shops between the holidays.

"The utilization was between two and ten percent," said the general manager of the Berlin-Brandenburg trade association, Nils Busch-Petersen, of the dpa on Saturday.

"It doesn't work like that, it can't be a model for longer."

The costs would be too high for such demand.

"Actually, we should close the booth," said Busch-Petersen, describing the mood in many houses.

From the retailer's point of view, there should have been a test strategy earlier, he criticized.

If you want to shop, you have to show a daily negative Corona rapid test in shops since Wednesday, as well as for visits to the hairdresser or beauty salon, in museums and galleries.

This does not apply to supermarkets, pharmacies or drugstores that were also open during lockdown.

The Senate understands the regulation as an alternative to renewed closings, despite the increasing corona numbers.
