President Moon Jae-in attended the 73rd anniversary 4/3 victims memorial ceremony held in Jeju 4/3 Peace Park on the morning of the 3rd.

It is the third time since his inauguration, following 2018 and last year, that President Moon attended the 4·3 victim memorial ceremony.

The Blue House explained, "This year is meaningful in that it is the first memorial ceremony since the passage of the Jeju 4·3 Special Act."

In particular, this year's memorial ceremony was attended by Defense Minister Seo-wook and National Police Commissioner Kim Chang-ryong.

This is the first time that the Secretary of Defense and the Chief of Police have attended an official memorial ceremony organized by the government.

Earlier, in 2019, the Vice Minister of Defense and the Commissioner of the National Police Agency visited the Gwanghwamun Civic Incense Center and expressed their regret.

The Blue House evaluated that "As the head of the public authority enforcement agency, it reflects on the painful history of the 4·3 and at the same time demonstrates the will to resolve the past at the level of the public."

In addition, representatives of major political parties from the opposition and opposition parties, Justice Minister Park Bum-gye, Minister of Public Administration and Security Jeon Jeon-cheol, Chairman of the Past Affairs Reconciliation Committee for Truth and Reconciliation, Jeong Geun-sik, and Jeju Governor Won Hee-ryong attended today's memorial ceremony.

According to the Corona 19 Prevention Guidelines, the number of attendees was limited to 70, including 31 survivors, the Blue House explained.
