Berlin (AP) - VfL Bochum has successfully defended its lead in the 2nd Bundesliga with a win against promotion competitor Holstein Kiel.

Thanks to two goals from Simon Zoller, Bochum beat the North Germans 2-1 (1-0) at the start of the 27th matchday.

SpVgg Greuther Fürth ousted Hamburger SV from second place on Saturday with the last minute 1-0 (0-0) at 1. FC Heidenheim, at least until Sunday.

The Karlsruher SC lost the connection to the front ranks by the 0: 1 (0: 0) against the VfL Osnabrück.

For Lower Saxony, at risk of relegation, it was the first victory after eleven games and the first success under the new coach Markus Feldhoff.
