After an 8-year absence from the art scene, the Syrian artist Yasser Al-Azma returns to the TV drama in the series "The Swallow" for the Ramadan 2021 season, in a new bet far from his famous series "Mirrors", which accompanied the months of Ramadan and achieved unrivaled fame, since its first episodes began in the year 1984 and the most recent in 2013.

And through his social networking sites, Al-Azma published the promotional advertisement for the series "The Swallow", whose episodes were written and directed by the Egyptian Khairy Bishara, with the participation of a wide range of Syrian and Arab actors, most notably Abed Fahd, Bashar Ismail, Marah Jaber and Dima Al-Jundi, in addition to the Lebanese actress Takla Shamoun.

It is expected that the series will receive a wide following, because of its great popularity among the Syrian and Arab viewers, which he obtained in his long artistic career.

Awni Al Nakash

The great Syrian artist embodies the character of the captain of the "Swallow", Awni Al-Nakish, as this captain leads the ship on a long journey that roams the seas as part of a "journey for acquaintance, rapprochement, washing of worries, and the search for a little happiness and comfort," as the greatness says in the promotional promo of the series.

The ship travels at several stations between the Arab countries, so that each station has different events that are not without comedy and wit, as well as events in which the ship's passengers participate in the dramatic plot of the series.

It is noteworthy that the character of Awni Al-Nakash was embodied by one of the heroes of a dramatic painting presented by Al-Azmeh in the series 97 mirrors bearing the name "The Man Who Knows Everything." One of the travelers.

In the hotel, remarkable events take place with his roommate and other travelers, as he dazzles them with his information and abundance in discovering details in the hotel and its guests, as he is a knowledgeable in art, literature and history, and an expert even in the pearl industry and able to distinguish its types.

And if Al-Azmeh relied on the name of Awni Al-Nakash in his new series, could he use the details and events of this character as well?

Will it be a continuation of that story?

Comparison and phenomenon

It seems that the greatness will move away from the pattern of presenting a pure Syrian drama that he used to do in his mirrors, as the Swallow's work can be included within the joint Arab drama, which has become an artistic phenomenon present in the dramas of the Ramadan series race on Arab channels.

It will come out of the cloak of mirrors and break this pattern loved by millions of Arab viewers, which makes it imperative for observers and critics to conduct a scientific comparison between the old and the new.

However, Syrian actors accompanied Al-Azmeh in a series of mirrors who are continuing with him today to work in the Swallow, most notably Abed Fahd and Marah Jaber.

Artistic history

The artist, Yasser Al-Azmeh, born in Damascus in 1942, occupies a prominent position in Syrian drama and theater, and his name has been associated with the famous drama series "Mirrors", which accompanied the months of Ramadan and achieved unrivaled fame, since its first episodes began in 1984 and the last in 2013.
