02 April 2021 Americans who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 will be able to travel "with a low risk to themselves" both within the United States and abroad, but they will have to continue to take precautions such as wearing a mask, avoiding crowds, respect social distancing and hand hygiene.

This was announced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which has established that vaccinated Americans will not have to undergo an anti-covid test upon their arrival in another country, unless this is requested by foreign authorities, nor will they have to undergo quarantine upon their return to the US, if this is not required by local authorities.

However, these travelers will need to submit a negative test before boarding a flight back to the United States and will have to undergo a test again within three to five days of returning home.

The latter recommendation, according to the CDC, is necessary because vaccinated people can still get infected with the virus.

According to US authorities, a person can be considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, or two weeks after the second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines.

These latest guidelines released today are in addition to those already released at the beginning of March, when the CDC announced that fully vaccinated people can gather in small groups in private settings without wearing masks or respecting the distancing and can visit people who are not. vaccinated from a single family unit, provided that these are at low risk of developing the disease in a severe form in the event of positive virus.

The recommendations released today by the CDC do not alter the guidelines for travel for unvaccinated people.

The federal agency continues to advise against all unnecessary domestic travel, indicating the need to have the anti-covid test both before and after the trip and to undergo a 10-day quarantine if not tested on return from a trip.

The innovations introduced today, of course, do not change the rules established by foreign authorities for US travelers, who are still barred from entering many countries.
