In 2022, two newly built preschools with six departments each will be ready for occupancy - one at Gröningsskolan and the other in the T4 area in Hässleholm.

In connection with this, other preschools will be closed down, the municipality announced in a letter to the guardians at the end of last week.

For example, Lilla Björn's preschool will be closed at the beginning of 2022. Midgård's preschool in Vankiva is also planned to be closed in the summer of 2022. Pike's preschool in Hässleholm would be closed by this summer.

The parents were told that they had until April 15 to choose a new preschool.

Three schoolings

- One wonders what the municipality thinks a kid is worth?

said Emmie Kristoffersson, parent of a child at Gäddan, about the plans.

Her children were enrolled in Gäddan's preschool in January - and with the news last week, Emmie Kristoffersson was afraid that her children would have to undergo two more schools within the course of a year.

Other preschools in the immediate area are also planned to be closed down and would thus only be a stopover before the newly built preschools open.

- It feels very boring.

Three schoolings within the course of such a short time can of course affect the child, said Emmie Kristoffersson.

"Our sub-goal was to get more time"

Many other parents of children at Gäddan's preschool were also upset.

Ida Lennartsson gathered everyone in a chat group that has been hot ever since.

They wrote a letter to the school principal and contacted politicians.

And it paid off.

On Tuesday evening, the parents were informed that Gäddan's preschool, following political initiatives, will remain for another year and is not planned to be closed until the summer of 2022.

- It feels great.

The goal is for everyone to stick together, for the children to be moved together with their educators.

We would have preferred to stay in the same building where we are, but we will now see what happens.

Our intermediate goal was to get more time - and we have got that, says Ida Lennartsson.
