Berlin (dpa / bb) - Due to the third corona wave, new contact restrictions will apply in Berlin from Friday.

At night between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. people are only allowed to be outdoors alone or in pairs.

During the day, the previous regulation remains, according to which meetings outdoors and at home are only allowed with a maximum of five people from two households.

In both cases, children up to the age of 14 are not counted, so they can also be included.

After Easter, the rules for meetings in private rooms will be tightened.

From Tuesday (April 6), only members of one household or partner plus one other person may stay in the apartment during the day.

Here, too, children up to 14 are not counted.

Visits are then no longer allowed at night between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The members of a household or life partner must keep to themselves.

The Senate passed the new restrictions on Thursday.

Governing Mayor Michael Müller (SPD) justified the measures with the fact that many people became infected in private.

He also referred to crowds of people, for example in parks, which increase again in warmer weather.

The police will control more closely here over the Easter holidays.

In contrast to other federal states such as Brandenburg, Berlin does not rely on exit restrictions or even bans.
