Babenhausen (dpa / lhe) - It is believed that a group of young people lifted more than 20 manhole covers out of their anchoring early Friday morning in Babenhausen (Darmstadt-Dieburg district).
According to the current state of the investigation, four young people between 5:00 and 7:00 a.m. first knocked over the furniture of an outdoor dining area and various flower pots and then began to lift the gully covers in the area of the Protestant church, as the police announced.
The "trail of devastation" ran through several streets.
Just because there was very little traffic in the early morning and because of the holiday, there were few people around, the whole thing went off lightly.
Before the riot act, at around 3:45 a.m., at least two unknown perpetrators tried to break into a school cafeteria using scaffolding.
The police are looking for witnesses for all acts.
Some of the manhole covers were placed several meters away from their place of origin.
