Rudi Geisler met Anna Oja, from the village of Korpikylä, in 1987 in Austria.

The couple lives and works there with tourism - and Rudi is known for his enormous works of art which he treads on with snowshoes in the snow, often out on lakes.

After buying a house in Korpikylä, the couple also spends a lot of time in Tornedalen, and several beautiful works of art have also been created there.

SVT Nyheter Norrbotten accompanied to Lake Pirriläjävi when the couple stepped up the structure for their new work of art that will welcome Easter.

- Now we try to make a beautiful snow picture of Easter.

It will be a basket with some eggs in it and nice flowers that we will step on, says Rudi.

The snow must not be too loose

A work of art begins with Rudi drawing a pattern - and when he decides on a place, everything must be right, the snow must not be too deep or loose, for example.

He then measures the place with a compass before they start stepping on the pattern.

The works of art do not exist forever.

They can disappear in just a few hours of wind, snow or sun.

- This is how it is in our lives that things change, there is a snowstorm or sun or rain and it melts away.

That's life, says Rudi.

When everything is ready, the artwork is photographed from above with a drone.

35 snow artworks in one season

The couple's business idea is also to step on large works of art in the snow.

It can be a company logo, anniversary year to be celebrated or a special figure or shape.

During a season, there will be up to about 35 works of art.
