Prime Minister Chung Sye-gyun is working on a plan to visit Iran soon after taking office as his first foreign visit.

It is known that it is to directly end the issue of the release of the captain with the'Korean Chemiho', which is currently being held in Iran.

A high-ranking government official said in a call with SBS that "Prime Minister Chung is in the final discussion on a plan to find Iran right after the re-election on the 7th to solve the'Korea Chemie' problem."

The departure time is expected to be as early as the 11th, and Prime Minister Chung is pursuing meetings with Iranian President Hassan Rohani in Iran.

As for diplomats, it is analyzed that the discussion on the release of the'Korea Chemiho' has already reached the final stage in that Prime Minister Chung directly visits Iran.

South Korea and Iran have discussed ways to transfer some of the frozen funds from Iran to Switzerland's Iranian accounts so that they can be used for humanitarian trade channels in Switzerland and expand trade in humanitarian goods.

Earlier, on January 4th, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard captured the'Korean Chemie' in the waters near Oman and detained 20 sailors, including five Koreans, including the captain.

Since then, most of the crew have been released, but the ship and the captain are still detained, so many crew members are staying in Iran for ship management.
