Cologne / Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Even at Easter, the police continue to use more forces to comply with the corona protection rules in Cologne and Düsseldorf, in order to be able to break up meetings of day trippers and control violations.

On Wednesday, almost summer temperatures had lured thousands to the river and lake banks and other popular meeting places.

In many cases, the distance rules were not adhered to.

The police were there with hundreds.

However, such large crowds are not expected at Easter around the well-known leisure hotspots - because the weather does not play along.

The German Weather Service announced a maximum of 11 degrees in the Rhineland, Ruhr area and Münsterland for the Easter holidays.

The sun hardly shows up.

It stays gray and cold, like on Good Friday.

The reason is a cold front flowing into the country from the north, as meteorologist Maria Hafenrichter explained on Saturday.

The sun can only prevail here and there for a few moments during the Easter walk on Sunday afternoon, it was said.

The prospects for Easter Monday are then really bleak: Another cold front brings showers from rain to people all over North Rhine-Westphalia, from sleet and snow in the mountains.

There is also strong wind with stormy gusts.

That should only lure a few outside and onto the promenades.
