02 April 2021He confessed to being responsible for the death of 45-year-old Giuseppe De Mattia, a convict, the 17-year-old questioned tonight at the police station in Bari. The girl, accompanied by her mother and in the presence of the defender, told the juvenile prosecutor that she had stabbed the man during a street fight that took place late in the evening in the Libertà district.

The young woman was first heard as a person informed about the facts and then, after making self-accusatory statements, she was questioned as a suspect.

The story took place in via Ravanas, after a quarrel between the victim on one side and the mother and the same young woman on the other.

It has now been entered in the register of suspects.

No precautionary measures have been taken against him at the moment.

The prosecutor reserved the right to qualify the type of crime.

The reconstruction

The quarrel took place on the street near the house of the two women.

According to the version provided by the minor, the 45-year-old allegedly attacked her mother with a knife.

Hearing the screams, the 17-year-old appeared on the balcony and after seeing what was happening she got out and tried to separate the 45-year-old from his mother.

In the struggle, according to what her lawyer reported, the girl was seriously injured in the face.

It is not clear whether with the same knife as the 45-year-old or with another one.

In fact, the young woman, as she herself reported, was hit by Di Mattia with a stab in the face resulting in serious injuries with permanent scarring to the face, precisely near the eye and head.

The girl underwent an operation, which lasted 4 hours, in the plastic surgery department of the hospital.

At first the ordinary prosecutor was investigating, then the juvenile one took over.

The young woman, assisted during the interrogation by the lawyer Massimo Chiusolo, attributed her gesture to the legitimate defense of herself and her mother.

Between the latter and the victim it seems there were ancient grudges, for economic reasons, dating back to 15 years ago.
