Adams was born in the Senegalese capital Dakar in 1948, and moved to France at the age of ten and began his professional football career as a defender for Nimes in the seventies, and led him to compete for the French League title in the 1972-1973 season, and finished second, and qualified for the French Cup semi-finals in a golden era for the club .

Adams's remarkable brilliance nominated him to join the French national team in 1972, to also shine at the international level during his 22 matches with the roosters, and his name was associated with French football legend Marius Tresor until 1976.

At the age of 29, Adams signed a major contract with Paris Saint-Germain, who represented him in two years in 42 games during which he scored two goals, and established his name as one of the most important players in the first decade of the Parisian club.

Adams has received praise from his international colleagues, including famed midfielder Henry Michel, who described him as "a determined force of nature."

Adams ended his football career at the age of 33 years with the Polish striker Joseph Klose, the father of the German legend Miroslav, where they played together in a second division team, due to a torn knee ligament, as he entered the Edward Heriot Hospital in Lyon in 1981 for a routine surgery that was expected to He leaves the hospital several days later.

But things went tragically when the anesthesiologist made a near-fatal mistake and gave Adams the wrong dose before the operation, so that the strong sports champion suffered from bronchospasm, which led to the lack of oxygen reaching his head, to go into a permanent coma until this day when he reached the age of about 73 Years old.

In the 1990s, a French court sentenced both the anesthetists to a suspended month in prison, in addition to a hefty fine.

Although nearly four decades have passed since he fell into a coma, his wife, Bernadette, has not given up caring for him and taking care of his needs in their home near Nmes.

Adams cannot communicate with anyone or even express his feelings, but he is still able to breathe, feel, eat and cough without the aid of medical equipment.

"Some people on Facebook say that he should be disconnected from the devices ... but he's not connected to medical devices," Bernadette says. "I don't have the courage to stop giving him food and water."

"He has a normal routine. He wakes up at seven, he eats ... and he can hear and sit in a wheelchair," she added, stressing that she is against euthanasia and refuses to abandon her husband.

But his wife's position does not agree with the opinion of his former French defender Tresor, who has not had the courage to visit his former colleague since the terrible accident.

"Even if Jean-Pierre woke up, he wouldn't recognize anyone. Is he worth living like this? If something similar happened to me, I asked my wife not to keep me," said Trezor.
