Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - With rallies in Gronau and Jülich, the Easter marches in North Rhine-Westphalia begin on Good Friday.

On Saturday, actions are planned in several cities, including against an increase in military spending and the use of drones in the military sector.

The Rhine-Ruhr Easter March begins in the center of Duisburg on Saturday and lasts until Monday.

A bicycle demonstration about the uranium enrichment plant Urenco is planned in Gronau in the Münsterland region (1 p.m.) on Good Friday.

Up to 70 participants are registered.

In Jülich in the Rhineland, a demonstration is to take place in front of the research center, where 20 participants are expected.

Last year, the Easter marches could only take place virtually due to the corona pandemic.

It is uncertain how high the number of participants will be this year in view of the pandemic.

Several hundred people are expected at the various stages of the campaign in the Ruhr area.

The organizers emphasized that “naturally” distances would be maintained and masks would be worn.
