Chinese officials have announced that Swedish clothing giant H & M has given guidance for violating the law on maps related to China published on the Internet.

It seems that the aim is to show a strict stance toward overseas companies that have indicated a policy to stop procuring cotton from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Authorities that manage the Internet in Shanghai, China, announced on the 2nd that H & M has instructed the map published online for violating the law.

Although it is not clear what the problem was, Chinese authorities have told companies that they had violated Taiwan and the Senkaku Islands in Okinawa Prefecture, which they claim to be their own territory. We are ordering the disposal of maps.

H & M announced last year that it would stop procuring cotton from the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region after being pointed out that it was benefiting from Uighur forced labor, after which the EU-European Union sanctioned Chinese officials. In March, criticism of H & M increased sharply on the Internet, and there was a non-buying movement.

In China, Nike and Adidas, which announced that they will not procure materials from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, are also being criticized online, and it seems that they are aiming to show a strict response to these companies.
