In recent years, many higher education establishments have set up on the Ile de Nantes, in the courthouse district in particular.
And there was a lack of a central restaurant accessible to student budgets.
This is why the Nantes town hall asked the Crous to offer a new center for student social catering in the district, "thus allowing students to eat at reduced prices near their place of study".
Between 600 and 700 meals per day
This restaurant-cafeteria will therefore open on boulevard de la Prairie-au-Duc, at the corner of rue Léon Durocher, on the ground floor of a building under construction.
It will have a capacity of 120 seats and will be able to serve between 600 and 750 meals per day, from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
"The offer will be diversified, focused on fast food with hot and cold services" and consumable "on the spot or to take away", indicates the town hall.
All students can access it for the price of a U ticket (3.30 euros).
The opening of this new place is scheduled for December 2021. It will take place almost at the same time as the announced opening of the Food Hall on the Ile de Nantes, also in the district.
The university cafeteria-restaurant project will cost Crous 1 million euros, subsidized by the city of Nantes to the tune of 250,000 euros.
