Munich (dpa) - The young elephant Otto, named after the comedian Otto Waalkes, from Munich's Hellabrunn Zoo loves the big appearance in front of visitors.

"He's a little bit of a rampage," said zoo spokeswoman Lisa Reininger on Thursday.

When the zoo reopened at the beginning of March after being closed for months due to Corona, the almost five-month-old animal saw many people in front of its facility for the first time.

Otto was hesitant at first, but now he loves to pull off a show with a lot of "Törööö".

"He noticed pretty quickly that people think it's great."

The «Ottifanten» inventor Waalkes should like that.

The 72-year-old comedian has not yet met the young bull.

"But we thought about inviting him," said Reininger.

Little Otto's mother Temi is still suckling him, but he's already tasting fruit and vegetables.

The only problem is fine motor skills, for example when he tries to push a kohlrabi leaf into his mouth with his trunk.

"But he watches a lot and is tireless when it comes to practicing with his trunk," said Reininger.
