The US State Department said today (local time) that denuclearization will be at the center of US policy toward North Korea, and that any approach to North Korea must be made in step with its allies to be effective.

State Department spokesman Ned Price said at a briefing today when asked questions related to the Joe Biden administration's review of North Korea policy.

"We have been telling us that denuclearization will continue to be at the heart of US policy toward North Korea," said a spokesman for Price, saying he did not want to predict the conclusions of the ongoing review.

Spokesman Price said the first meeting of the ROK-U.S.-Japan Security Command Tower will be an opportunity to hear the positions of senior Korean and Japanese officials and share their thoughts and perspectives.

U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Blue House National Security Officer Seo Hoon, and Japan National Security Director Shigeru Kitamura meet at the U.S. Naval Academy near Washington DC on the 2nd to hold the first three-party consultation.

Previously, the White House National Security Council (NSC) stated in a statement that various issues such as maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and foreign policy priorities will be discussed.
