The US Navy said that the aircraft carrier strike group "Dwight Eisenhower" (CVN-69) began carrying out sorties from the eastern Mediterranean.

The Navy added that the move of the second strike group in the US Sixth Fleet, shows the flexibility of the United States Navy and its ability to conduct operations whenever and wherever necessary.

And confirmed that it is able to provide a wide range of options for the United States and its allies, to deter what it described as any aggression or disruption of maritime security and regional stability.

It is noteworthy that the US Navy announced on March 21 that it had begun wide naval maneuvers alongside Belgium, France and Japan, in the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman.

The US Fifth Fleet said - in a statement - that the exercises aim to protect maritime security and freedom of navigation, in addition to countering air, sea and deep sea attacks.

These maneuvers came in light of the increasing tensions between Iran and the United States regarding Washington's position on the nuclear file, and mutual warnings of its slide into a military escalation.
